Zoo de Rabat

Zoo de Rabat promises you an informative experience that you won’t be able to find in books.

The Zoo of Rabat (also known as Zoo de Rabat or Jardin Zoologique de Rabat) is one of the highlights of Morocco’s capital city. Situated only seven kilometres from the city centre, the zoo houses some of the most fascinating of African animals, including ferocious crocodiles and hippopotamuses, as well as the more tame rhinos and flamingos. But there’s a lot more to explore over here as you wander through the zoo’s expansive grounds. If you’ve always wanted to see hyenas, look no further than this zoo. The chimpanzee enclosure here is another interesting one, seeing as the chimpanzees are always incredibly sociable and playful around guests. An interesting fact about the zoo is that it doesn’t trap animals in cages that are too small and instead lets them roam freely in their natural habitat-like enclosures. This allows you to see them interact with one another as they would in the wild, albeit on a smaller scale. Besides the typical African wildlife, the zoo also has rare wild animals such as the Barbary lion. These lions are extinct in the wild, so a visit to this zoo will actually allow you to see some of the last of their species. If you want to learn more about these animals outside of books and classrooms, then this is where you have to be.

Tips Before You Go
As with all zoos, don’t try to slide your hands through gaps in an attempt to touch the animals. You need all your limbs intact for the rest of your trip.
