The Zacheta National Gallery of Art is a contemporary art museum situated in Warsaw, Poland. The gallery aims to exhibit works from Polish contemporary artists and give these local artists the much needed publicity and support that they desperately need. The gallery has also managed to establish itself on the world stage from the wide array of temporary exhibitions that display works of well-known international artists as well. The Polish term Zacheta actually translates to encouragement or motivation. Today, the gallery’s permanent collection comprises over 3600 objects of which about 700 include paintings and 100 are sculptures and installations. The collection includes works from artists like Tadeusz Kantor and Alina Szapocznikow.
