Yamashita Park (山下公園)

A peaceful park blossoming with nature and culture.

Enjoy a day of relaxation with the beautiful views that await at Yamashita Park! Opened in 1930, this lush park not only holds picturesque sights of the blooming nature, but also breathtaking views of serene waters and magnificent ocean liners as it stretches along Yokohoma’s waterfront - becoming the first seaside park in Japan. It’s construction after the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923, resulted in a lush public space filled with vibrant, colourful rose gardens and vast grassy pastures with riveting memorials and statues spaced out around. These include an Indian Memorial and monuments representing a Japanese children song - the perfect site for a family picnic or simply a place to sit and bask in the tranquil and culture-filled atmosphere.

No visit here is complete without a refreshing stroll along the bay! With views of the magnificent Hikawa Maru ocean liner, now standing as a unique ship-shaped museum, coupled with the towering Yokohama Marine Tower in the distance, Yamashita Park truly promises its visitors with a variety of sights to feast your eyes on!
