For all botany enthusiasts and plant lovers, Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden is a paradise of all sorts of rare plants and trees. The largest tropical botanical garden in China, the 900-hectare garden is home to more than 3000 species of tropical plants, including more than 100 major state-protected species. Here, you can learn all there is to know about the colourful plant life of the tropics.


Neatly organised into 13 sections, the botanical garden caters to people of all interests. For example, those who love to eat and discover new foods will be thrilled to hear that you can try samples of a variety of fruits and herbs growing in the garden. There’s a section for medicinal plants as well, where you can learn about their impressive healing qualities. And of course, for stunning photographs, the flowers section provides a beautiful backdrop of vibrant colours, while the tropical rainforest, with its majestic trees that tower a good 20m over all other trees, offers a bit of peace and tranquillity.
