Xi Beach

Here at the Xi Beach, there’s more than what meets the eye.

In the Paliki peninsula of the island of Kefalonia rests a special beach that is well-known for its vibrant sand and clay cliffs. Wait a second! Did we just mention clay cliffs? Yes! The Xi Beach, located some 7 kilometers away from Lixouri, attracts tourists from every corner of the world, not just to its crystal clear waters (which goes without saying because this is Kefalonia, people!) but also to the cliffs that line its shores.

These cliffs are grey in color and are actually made up of a kind of clay that’s really good for your skin. The lower parts of the cliffs that are exposed to the seawater are moist and soft, making it easy to pull them out into handfuls and apply on your skin. It is said that this clay has the ability to cure various skin diseases, as well as to heal wounds. If you want to savor the magnificence of the beach in solitude, September is a great time to visit, far from the summer crowds.

Tips Before You Go
If you’re travelling with kids, Xi Beach is a great place for a family as it is shallower compared to most other beaches in the island. A huge plus is that the waves are gentler as well.
