Wiltern Theatre

A stunning art deco landmark that stands proud in the urban sea of California.

Named after the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue where it rests, the Wiltern Theatre stands proud at 12 stories high. Behind the majestic interior and vivid murals lies an inspiring story of survival, which this art deco theatre had to go through because of circumstances beyond its control. Due to the Depression, the theatre went dark 2 years shortly after its opening and was subjected to demolishment. Through the relentless intervention of the Los Angeles Conservancy, this specimen of architectural heritage was preserved. The tarnished interior was carefully refurbished, vintage theatre seats salvaged, and the Wiltern Theatre reopened after four years of reconstruction.

Today, the enchanting blue-green terra-cotta tile theatre remains one of the largest in Los Angeles, housing a wide variety of events. Whether it be hyped up concerts by artistes like deadmau5, or much more relaxed ones by singers like George Ezra, music fans will no doubt find all kinds of concerts going on throughout the year over here. But that’s not all that you will get to see over here, because numerous charity galas and benefits are also held here. After all, the Wiltern Theatre’s interior is incredibly spacious, being able to sit 1850 visitors, and with a dazzling stage and lighting system, this is where numerous memories are forged, especially for first-time visitors who will undoubtedly be wowed by the euphony of sounds and colours.
