William Ricketts Sanctuary

Reminding us what we sometimes forget – the necessity of nature.

Resting upon Mount Dandenong Tourist Road in Melbourne, Australia, you will find a place so peaceful it can rival any pricey spa resort. The William Ricketts Sanctuary, founded by Australian sculptor and potter William Ricketts, was created as a safe haven for your peace of mind. Having spent time with the Aboriginal people, he was inspired by their philosophy of respecting and preserving nature. As such, he crafted over 90 clay sculptures in this sanctuary, showing Aboriginal people interacting with nature. The walking track is 500m long and wheelchair-friendly, making it a great place for everyone to come, and be reminded that nature is meant to be protected, not disrespected.
