Priding itself as Europe’s only large-scale combined zoological and botanical gardens, the Wilhelma Zoo and Botanical Gardens can be found in Stuttgart in the Bad Cannstatt district in Germany. It opens its doors to over 2 million visitors annually who come to see its extensive collection of over 1,200 species of fauna and 6,000 species of flora. Interestingly, the Wilhelma remains as the only state-owned zoo in Germany and is home to Europe’s biggest magnolia grove and a special branch where it houses stallions.
