Whitworth Art Gallery

With over 55,000 items in its collection, the Whitworth Art Gallery is certainly an artist’s treasure trove!

Located in Whitworth Park in the University of Manchester, the Whitworth Art Gallery traces its history all the way back to 1889, though it was only re-established and opened recently after restoration works in 2015. That same year, the gallery received more than 440,000 visitors in its first year and won the Art Fund’s Museum of the Year award, which it continues to be well-acclaimed for. Comprising two storeys and a basement, the gallery houses over 55,000 pieces of work including famous collections of textiles, sculptures, and watercolors. One of the most noteworthy and famous works would be "Genesis", a marble sculpture by Sir Jacob Epstein.
