White Sands Missile Range

A military base that exhibits some of the greatest inventions from the United States.

Rockets, atomic bombs, missiles… These are things so distant from our everyday lives, yet they had such a profound impact on history and shaping the world we live in today. At the White Sands Missile Range, you’ll be able to visit a museum that showcases the history behind these massive inventions. The museum houses a large array of missiles on display with informative exhibits on war history, a paradise for history buffs. The V-2 exhibit features where the United States first performed test launches of the V-2 rockets whose development was aided by German scientists. This was the first step into further rocketry experiments and the space exploration program.

The White Sands Missile Range was also a key location in the Manhattan Project – the development of the first atomic bomb in World War II. You can take a visit to the Trinity site, where the testing of the colossal bomb took place. Allow yourself to be mind-blown by the mental image of the enormous mushroom cloud rising from the surface of the ground and take a moment to reflect on the effects of such an invention over the last century.
