Washington, D.C., United States of America
White House

The official residence and workplace of the President of the United States of America.

An iconic landmark which needs no further introduction, the White House is the official accommodation and workplace of the President of the United States. It is situated at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington D.C. and has housed every US president since John Adams in 1800. The complex has undergone several refurbishment efforts over the years but today’s modern-day compound includes the Executive Residence, East and West Wings, the Eisenhower Executive Office Building and the Blair House which is a guest residence. The monument is also a National Heritage Site, and in 2007 was ranked second of the American Institute of Architect’s shortlist of ‘America’s Favourite Architecture’. After seeing it featured in the news and in the movies so many times, perhaps it’s time for you to visit and see it with your own eyes.

Tips Before You Go
There are a series of security checks that you will have to undergo before being allowed inside, and even then, you are only allowed to visit a few of the rooms in the compound. The tour is “self-guided” so you won’t understand much of what you’re seeing unless you read it up online or ask someone for some information. As such, it might not really be worth it for some people, although you will get exclusive photographs and bragging rights.
