Whaley House Museum

Do not enter if you’re not prepared to come into contact with ghosts.

The Whaley House is always associated with the supernatural. For decades, many visitors have claimed to have experienced a presence in the house or heard laughter and music through the walls. Some have even said that they saw the figures of the Whaley family. What happened that made this house so haunted?

It all began in 1853, when Thomas Whaley decided to construct the house on the property where infamous bandit Yankee Jim was hanged. His family moved in four years later and began to experience unexplainable situations. They would hear footsteps or have a feeling that couldn’t be shaken off. Over the years, several of the Whaley family died here. This includes son Thomas Jr and daughter Violet, both of whom passed away at a young age (18 months and 22 years old respectively). The house has been rumoured to be both haunted by Yankee Jim and the Whaley family till today, and has been the subject of many paranormal investigations.
