In the midst of metropolitan Hague is this space of greenery, which is home to more than 150 different species of plants. However, the prized jewel of the park is their rose garden, which is one of the most widely celebrated in the world. Constructed in 1961, it is made up of 300 beds flourishing with strong and beautiful spray roses, climbing roses, patio roses, shrub roses and large roses. Come the summer months of June, July and August, 20,000 flowers burst into bloom in a kaleidoscope of colours that will leave you in awe.

Kids can be a pirate for a couple of hours on the playground ship, along with the usual fare of swings and slides. There is also a mini golf course to play a few rounds in the pleasant environment of grass, trees and flowers. Some impressive works of art are scattered throughout the garden in the form of sculptures by both local and international artists, the highlights of which are the “Troelstra monument” by Piet Esser, “Puss in Boots” by Johan Keller and “The Conversation” by Berry Holslag. Simply pack up a picnic, grab a soccer ball and your plan for the day is settled!

Tips Before You Go
There is a lovely tea room where you can dine on high tea while soaking in the charms of the garden, or alternatively the Rosarium Wokrestaurant, an Asian Wok buffet where you can choose your own ingredients from a variety of meat, vegetables and seafood and watch the chef cook it up into a delicious meal right before your eyes. From its position on the terrace, there are fantastic views of the garden. Rent a rowboat for a few euros and explore the park by floating down the stream.
