Washington Monument

Once the tallest structure in the world.

While it may not hold the world record for the tallest structure in the world any longer, the Washington Monument is still the world’s tallest stone structure and the world’s tallest obelisk to date. This obelisk is dedicated to George Washington, and its imposing figure can be seen from incredibly far. Made of marble, granite and bluestone gneiss, its singular majesty is almost palpable.

You can admire it not only from inside but also from the outside. With iron stairs twisting and turning the walls and an elevator at the center, the monument is truly impressive. As to why it is so significant, it is essential to explore more of George Washington's character, a man so great he was hailed as the father of his country, and beloved by his people. This great leader is immortalized with the construction of the monument, and while in Washington D.C., you most definitely don’t want to pass this by.
