Warsaw University Library

Where knowledge and nature meet.

The Warsaw University Library is possibly the most unique library you'll ever see. The building has won many prestigious awards in architectural competitions for it is a fusion of modernity and culture, embracing nature. Even from the entrance, the building does not fail to be imposing. It's eight panels that have been completed with a frieze, show pages of iconic texts, including the old Polish Exposition of Virtues, the Greek Phaedrus by Plato and the Arabic Book of Animals by Al-Jahiz.

As you look up, you will see creepers making their way to the top, and the glass windows reflect the nature. The library boasts the largest roof gardens in Europe and is separated into the upper roof and the lower roof. Book lovers, you are bound to fall in love with this place at first sight. And who could blame you? When you tire of chasing words across a page, you can head out to the upper garden to look out from the roof for a stunning panoramic view of the Vistula river, and stretches of lush green. Fish dart about in the pond at the lower garden while a bubbling stream sings. Go on, now. The Library Garden calls!
