War Memorial of Korea

Where history teaches of the devastation caused by war.

The War Memorial of Korea is impressive both inside and out. As you cross the road on the path to the memorial, two intertwined figures in the distance stand out, and as you approach, you will see that it is one of two men embracing, dearly. This is the “Statue of Two Brothers”, and manages to bring about a sense of melancholy as you pass through the dome it stands on.

Walking closer, you will no doubt be drawn to the Large Military Equipment Exhibit display, which features an impressive number of planes, tanks and other technology that was used during the Korean War. Another striking monument is the massive Defending the Fatherland statue, which curves and depicts a group of people, from young men to soldiers, reaching out in what seems to be an attempt to deter attackers. Walk into the museum and you will find yourself in a sea of history, and a reminder of the gruesome nature of war. The exhibits preserve materials from the war and honor the patriots who lost their lives in the war. It is not just the Korean War that the museum explores: it covers other wars in Korea’s troubled history as well. And it will no doubt be exciting to visit the museum as there are stamp booklets you can get for when you visit the various exhibits.
