Kauai’s beauty is renowned in the region, and that’s saying something considering almost all of Hawaii is a tropical paradise. The brightest star in its collection is the Wailua Falls, a waterfall that beats out all others in its splendor.

Incredibly easy to reach, with the parking lot practically overlooking the falls, this is a must-do, no-excuses trip that will probably turn out to be the highlight of your entire trip. Two distinct jets of water rage over the edge of a 30 foot craggy cliff face, thundering down into a frothing pit of white mist. Sometimes, if it's your lucky day, when a ray of sun strikes the falls at its sweet spot, a rainbow explodes from the base and extends into the sky, enhancing it’s magnificence even more. When it rains, the two falls transform into a single thundering flow that is awe-inspiring in its raw and uncontrollable power.

Ancient Hawaiians used to prove their manliness and bravery by launching themselves over the edge of the falls. While it is definitely not recommended for you to attempt the same, it is nonetheless truly a test of your courage to stand over these falls and feel its rumble fill your whole body.
