Villa Doria Pamphili

A villa so fine that it was once known as the ‘Bel Respiro’ (Beautiful Breath).

The 17th-century Villa Doria Pamphilj is Rome’s largest landscaped park, and is the perfect getaway from the bustling city of Rome. In its heart lies the elegant Casino del Bel Respiro, the summer residence of the prince. Surrounded by a labyrinth of beautiful gardens, fascinating fountains and jogging trails, this villa offers a marvellous view of Rome from atop Janiculum Hill. Experience inner peace amongst the fragrant citrus trees and gorgeous flowers in full bloom, or take a stroll under the famed umbrella pine trees. Let your soul delight in the sweet songs of the birds as you try to spot a shy fallow deer running free in the Villa Doria Pamphilj.

Tips Before You Go
The park is often used by locals to exercise or just unwind, and not many tourists know about this hidden gem. Bring some food and you could even have a picnic here! Do take note that you need to use the main entrance when you wish to leave, because the back of the park (Via Aurelia), lacks sidewalks, and thus, you will end up walking on the road in the middle of heavy traffic.
