Vigeland Sculpture Park

A sculpture wonderland by Vigeland.

Nestled peacefully within Frogner Park is a park of its own, dedicated to some fascinating works of art. The Vigeland Sculpture Park in Oslo, Norway, is home to more than 200 sculptures, crafted by esteemed Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland, who also dictated the design and architecture of the park. Bronze, granite, and wrought iron – these are the materials that the sculptures are made of, with the bulk of them originating during the period between 1939-1949. You can see some truly fascinating and renowned works here, such as The Monolith, which consists several figures carved from a single granite block. Those with sharp eyes might notice that many of the works here actually explore the themes of life, death, and the human form. These are deliberate, as they make you ponder the meaning of existence. For an artistic experience that makes you think, and is located in the midst of nature, look no further than the Vigeland Sculpture Park.
