Originally built as the Louis Finot Museum in the 1930’s, the Vietnam National Museum of History was rebranded to its current name in 1958 after the museum was taken over by the local government. With over 7000 artefacts and 200,000 exhibits in this 2000m2 museum, you can learn all about the rich history of Vietnam under one roof. Holding artifacts from multiple time periods, including from prehistoric times, the colonial years and post-independence, it is no wonder the museum is nationally-recognised. The exhibits are organized chronologically in 5 major sections, so as to aid visitors understand Vietnam’s history. Reinforcing the fact that no country can function is a vacuum, the artifacts observed here hail not only from Vietnam but from other countries such as China and Thailand as well.
