Veterans Memorial Wall

In honor of Jacksonville’s veterans.

The Veterans Memorial Wall in Jacksonville is, in fact, the second-largest memorial wall in the entire country. Over 1,500 of Jacksonville’s American war heroes’ names are inscribed on the granite wall, grave and inspiring at the same time. It is also the only wall where veterans from all of the six service branches are honored.

Here, you can trace names of those who were lost from World War I to Operation Desert Storm, and the current war on terrorism. As you walk across the memorial wall, you will stop by the center, where a torch with an eternal flame stands, illuminating the names of those who lay down their lives in World War I. Do visit this memorial to pay tribute to the fallen, and it never fails to serve as a grim reminder of the price of war. If you visit on the day of the Memorial Day ceremony, you will find many gathered here, for the Wall is the site of the ceremony.
