Vernazza

A veritable fishing village.

Vernazza is one of the five towns in the UNESCO World Heritage “Cinque Terre” region, and one of the finest examples of a traditional fishing village to still exist on the Italian Riviera. With its natural port and quaint houses sitting almost precariously along the steep edges of a cliff overlooking the vast ocean, it couldn’t be more picturesque than this. Photographers, you’ll find yourself itching to snap pictures from every angle you see!

If you've had enough of seeing cars whizzing past, then you will find a reason to rejoice here in this town, which has no car traffic. Instead, you get to try taking the local "milk trains", which were originally used to deliver milk and mail to the different cities, to Vernazza. While you're here, make the most of your getaway from the chaos of urban life, and enjoy a relaxing stroll or two on the main street. Head down to the beaches and gaze out at the vast sea before you, or admire the elegance of the houses. Snap a few pictures of the rustic church near the waterfront, or walk up to the top of the ancient castle, from where you can view the stunning Vernazza harbor, replete with pastel-colored buildings and clear waters. You definitely won't be disappointed on your visit here!
