Fiskardo, Greece
Venetian Lighthouse of Fiscardo

Discover humanity’s past through the mysterious ruins at Fiskardo’s Venetian Lighthouse, for history is what guides us towards the future.

There are two lighthouses in Fiskardo: one was built by the British in 1892, as replacement for the original after an earthquake made it unsafe. Details of the original are still a blur, even though many say that it was erected in the 16th century by Venetian conquerors, as evidenced by its heavy Venetian style. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the Venetian Lighthouse of Fiskardo. For a structure that has been standing in place for so long, the lighthouse is surprisingly in good condition. You will be able to see the harbor and the surrounding village from here, as the lighthouse stands in the entrance of the port. You will even find an abandoned keeper’s cottage that was for the guards of the area. There is also a pre-Christian basilica nearby that was built in 6th century A.D., during the Byzantine era. It’s bound to be a journey that you will cherish.
