New York City, United States of America
United Nations Headquarters

While it may be built on US soil, this building belongs to all of the UN’s member states.

Located along the East River, the United Nations Headquarters was built on 18 acres of land that had been donated by John D. Rockefeller Jr. The entire area was then declared an international territory. In addition, the UN complex was designed by an international committee of architects, in line with the UN’s identity as an international organisation. The green glass curtain tower is one of the most iconic buildings ever, and the first of its kind in New York. Don’t forget to head for the UN Bookshop and browse through the amazing collections. In fact, you might want to shop for souvenirs at the UN Gift Shop too, or even send a postcard using the UN stamps to surprise your friends and family. Do not forget to marvel at the proud display of flags of every single member of the UN!
