A Korean palace fit for royalty.
Curious to know how Korean royalty used to live? Look no further than the Unhyeongung Royal Residence located in Seoul. This was once the home of Gojong, the 26th Emperor of the Joseon Dynasty, till he was 12. Previously, it was the home of his father, Heungseon Daewongun, who lived there nearly all his life. The palace is divided up into different areas, serving different functions. For example, the area called Sujiksa on the right used to be servant quarters while the Norakdang area on the left was used for Gojong’s wedding to Empress Myeongseong (a reenactment of their wedding is held on the palace grounds of Unhyeongung Royal Residence twice a year), as well as or other forms of entertaining. Norakdang Hall was also the women’s quarters while Noandang Hall was the men’s.
