Uffizi Gallery (Galleria degli Uffizi)

Home of many masterpieces.

The Uffizi Gallery is an art gallery renowned worldwide. It is best known for its superb collection of Italian Renaissance art, with masterpieces by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Giotto, just to name a few. Built in the 16th century, the building was originally used as a place of leisure and was somewhat of a retreat, but it was later converted into one of the first museums in Europe in 1865.

The gallery only lets in a small group of people at a time, so queues can get rather long. To spare yourself the agony of sweating it out under the hot summer sun or clenching your teeth in the biting winds of winter, do opt to book your tickets in advance. All you need to do is to simply arrive at your appointed time and waltz right pass an envious mob of visitors.
