The most beautiful view of Yosemite Valley, according to naturalist John Muir.
The Three Brothers is a rock formation located in Yosemite Valley, California. It finds itself just east of El Capitan and comprises, as its name suggests, three large rock pieces – the Eagle Peak (or the uppermost ‘brother'), its Middle and Lower Brothers. The origin of its name is interesting – members of the Mariposa Battalion named it the Three Brothers after the capture of Chief Tenaya’s three sons near the foot of the mountains.
On the other hand, the native American people (the Ahwahnechee) named it Kompopaizes which directly translates into "the mountains with heads like frogs when ready to leap". Naturalist and paleontologist John Muir once considered the view from Eagle Peak to be the most awe-inspiring one throughout the whole of Yosemite Valley.
