Thorpe Park

A theme park boasting the tallest log flume in the UK, the longest pre-lift section of an inverted roller-coaster and the only roller-coaster with a horror theme!

The Thorpe Theme Park in Surrey was officially opened to the public in 1979 and has developed into one of the major theme parks in the country today, attracting over 1.8 million visitors each year. The park is split into a couple of themed areas, including Amity, Old Town, The Jungle, Lost City, Swarm Island and Port and Basecamp. Amity centers itself around a fishing village while Old town is based on the Canadian Rockies. Impressively, the theme park holds several records, including SAW – The Ride. Especially for thrill-seekers, this is the only rollercoaster themed around a horror movie and also holds the record for the steepest freefall drop in the world!
