The Rose Garden (Folon e il Giardino delle Rose)

Possibly the largest garden dedicated to roses in the world.

The architect Giuseppe Poggi, commissioned by the Florence Municipality in 1865, to transform Renaissance Florence into Italy’s capital, the garden was designed with French influences. Named after its huge collection of roses, the Rose Garden is located beneath Piazzale Michelangelo and covers an area of about 1 acre, divided into terraces. Drown yourself in the sweet scent of 1000 mind-boggling varieties of roses and other plants.

Visit the Japanese oasis called Shorai, the brainchild of architect Yasuo Kitayama, and get a taste of the Orient, which was actually a donation from Kyoto in 1998. In addition, enjoy the ten bronze sculptures by Belgian artist Jean-Michel Folon. Look out for the famous Rain Man sculpture alongside many other interesting sculptures.
