The Queen's Gallery was first established in 1962, over 55 years ago. It currently sits at Buckingham Palace and is a public art gallery, showcasing famous works of arts from the Royal Collection. At any one time, close to 450 masterpieces are on display, and these are works that were owned by the monarch on behalf of the nation rather than privately. The gallery interestingly sits on the site of a chapel which was bombed during WWII and over its first 37 years, it amassed a whopping 5 million visitors. After extension works were carried out, the gallery was reopened by Queen Elizabeth II herself in celebration of her Golden Jubilee. It remains open to the public year-round so do stop by if you happen to be traveling past Buckingham palace!
