The Point Vicente Interpretive Center

Get in touch with nature here.

It may seem like a rather unusual name, but the Point Vicente Interpretive Center is simply a natural history museum dedicated to telling the story of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Situated along the crumbling cliffs of the Palos Verdes coast, you are treated to stunning views of the boundless ocean and the distant sound of the waves breaking against the impervious cliff face when you arrive at the center. In its effort to expound upon the breathtaking nature you see all around you, the expanded center offers a number of interactive exhibits such as a sea cave, a life-size baby whale model, and more. Learn more about the native flora and fauna, as well as the various cultures that intertwined after different groups of people settled in the area.

Nevertheless, its exhibits pale in comparison to the real treasure that can be found outside the center itself. The center offers the incredible opportunity to watch the immense grey whale’s migration at certain times of the year. And if this huge creature proves elusive to you, the many nature trails around the center may yield a glimpse of pelicans or sea birds swooping past at eye level. Either way, it’s an intimate encounter with nature that you can’t find anywhere else.
