The Pinnacle

For a bit of adventure and great views over Western Australia.

If you are in Melbourne and up for a hike to get your heart pumping, head out of the city and into the lovely Grampians National Park. Located three hours from the CBD by car, the park, commonly known as The Grampians, is most recognized for The Pinnacle - an exquisite vantage point offering beautiful scenic views of Western Australia. While it may look unnervingly high and tough to tread, you will be pleased to know that on the contrary, the walk is largely manageable plus the 360-degree panoramic view at the end makes all the effort worthwhile. There are two different routes to get to the lookout – starting from Sundial or Wonderland. The former is an easy to medium walk (4.5km), suitable for the less confident and those with children; while the latter is a more challenging climb (9.6km), where hikers can test their fitness.
