The National Art Center (国立美術館)

The museum which hosted the second most visited exhibition in the world in 2007!

The National Art Center, which is a museum in Roppongi, Tokyo, was a joint project between the Agency for Cultural Affairs and the National Museums Independent Administrative Institution. The museum is currently situated at a site which used to be occupied by the University of Tokyo's research facility. The museum prides itself on being one of the largest exhibitory spaces in the whole of Japan. What's incredibly fascinating is that the center is actually an empty museum without a collection, permanent exhibits or curators inside, but instead it houses roving exhibitions sponsored by external organizations. In 2007, its Monet exhibition turned out to be the most successful and was the second most visited exhibition of the year in the entire world!
