Standing proudly after its official opening in March 2016 following a US$600 million renovation, the Met Breuer is a marvellous repository of the finest and most cutting edge in contemporary art. Located at the Upper East Side of New York City, it is part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (the Met). The building itself is an architectural masterpiece but what lies within will not fail to impress. From the Italian Renaissance to contemporary paintings, look out for the latest thematic exhibitions. Be sure to catch the Woman in a Red Armchair, an incredible painting by Pablo Picasso (1931) which has never been displayed in a public exhibition before.

Tips Before You Go
Tickets to the Met Breuer also give you admission into the Met’s 5th Avenue and Cloister museums, so you’re essentially getting to visit 3 museums for the price of 1. So if you have time (and energy), you might want to make your way to the museum’s sister locations too for a day filled with arts appreciation.
