The Marble Mountains

Picturesque hills where you can admire shrines, sculptures and the wonders of nature.

The marble mountains in Da Nang are actually hills of limestone and marble, forming a group of five craggy, jagged peaks. These peaks have been named after the five natural elements: Earth, Wood, Water, Fire and Metal, and each one of them promises adventure filled with beautiful sights.

Most visitors start at Thuy Son, the Water mountain. It is the most famous of all five mountains, and dotted with elegant sculptures and shrines. The highlight of this mountain is the Riverview Tower, which is a viewpoint allowing you to see Kim Son, the Metal mountain, as well as rivers and the coastline. Make sure to explore the caves In Thuy Son and the other mountains too, as many of these caves and grottoes house mystical shrines. While most of these shrines are Buddhist, you might be lucky enough to see a few Hindu relics as well.

End your visit with a trip down to the village, where handcrafted marble goods are sold. Here, you can buy anything from marble earrings to sculptures.
