The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia

The National Gallery of Australia (NGV) proudly presents Victoria’s captivating collection of Australian Art.

Home to some 20,000 works of Australian art, including indigenous and non-indigenous art from the colonial period to the present day, the National Gallery of Australia (NGV) is a must-visit for all you culture vultures. Opened in Federation Square in 2002, this stand-alone building offers a total of 7,250 square meters of gallery space. Designed with a glass matrix, each area is focused upwards with a vertical volume between the sections; while a continuously folded glass wall lines all the bridging levels. Exhibitions here are frequently rotated to show the diversity of Australian art. With approximately 800 pieces presented each time, NGV has more Australian art on display than any other gallery in the world.
