The Huascarán National Park

The emperor of tropical mountain ranges.

Named after its most majestic mountain (Mount Huascarán), which is in turn named after the Inca emperor Huascar, the world’s highest tropical mountain range features rugged landscapes and wild terrain in breath-taking proportions – little wonder it was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in the 1980s. Deep ravines dip into pristine turquoise lakes and tropical glaciers gleam snow-white against the backdrop of lush-green forests and vegetation, promising all visitors an experience of a lifetime as they explore the alluring terrain.

Explore the rich and enigmatic biodiversity within the park via hiking, mountain biking, or mountaineering (the park is a renowned mountaineering spot), and observe up close exotic plant species such as the Queen of Andes and indigenous fauna such as the spectacled bear, the Andean condor, and the vicuna (South American camelid). Perfect for nature lovers, hiking enthusiasts, and avid mountaineers, the raw beauty of the Huascaran makes it a park like no other, and one of Peru’s greatest natural treasures to visit firsthand.
