The Grotto

The Great Ocean Road is one of Australia’s most popular destination, and The Grotto is yet another reason why.

While the Twelve Apostles and the Loch Ard Gorge are popular stops along the Great Ocean Road, be sure not to miss out on the often-overlooked Grotto, located at the end of the route. Technically a sinkhole geological formation, The Grotto is a bit of everything: a blowhole, an archway, and a cave. Standing about halfway from sea level to the cliff, there is a pathway leading to a decked staircase that descends into a viewing platform.

See the wonder from above, or go down and explore – the choice is yours. For the best views, consider looking into The Grotto from the lower viewing platform. However, do be careful about bad weather conditions, which can make exploring The Grotto dangerous, especially if it is windy and when the tide is high.
