Teatro alla Scala

The Teatro Alla Scala of Milan is where arts, culture, music and architecture meet.

No one goes to Milan and returns without soaking in its culture, buildings, arts and music. Ever. They are what make Milan, well, Milan. Apart from the very famous Milan Fashion Week that we’ve all heard of, there are also other things (or rather, places) that are equally well-known in the city. One of them is the Teatro Alla Scala, ranked by National Geographic in 2012 as the best opera house in the entire world! Founded by Empress Maria Theresa of Austria, the theatre opened in 1778 and, it has accommodated some of the world’s most respected maestros like Verdi, Bellini and Toscanini.

Numerous operas, ballets, concerts and recitals happen here throughout the year except in August. Tickets should be bought a couple of months in advance, as they are quick to sell out. It is a given, of course, since the theatre is regarded as one of the leading opera and ballet theatres in the world. All in all, this will be a memory that you’ll cherish for the rest of your life!
