However, during its time the match industry was huge, and matchsticks were carried around by just about everyone. Today, the Tändstickmuseet is a match museum said to be the only one of its kind in the world, and is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the matchstick box. Although its days as a matchstick factory are long over, it continues to tell the story of the humble little stick that conquered the world. The museum is housed in a charming red-and-white building built in 1848. Its humble interior has seen many things: it was the first match factory in Jönköping, and perhaps one of the only ones left.
