Tab Kak Hang Nak Hill Nature Trail

Some say it’s the best hiking trail in Krabi.

Hang Nak is a national park near Ao Nang Beach and boasts a medium-intensity hiking trail. The trail itself is around 3.7km long and leads you 500 vertical metres up into the hills. It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours at a leisurely pace to climb to the top, with a waterfall and at least two viewpoints along the way.

Though the hiking trail is well-worn out and marked, and getting lost would be nearly impossible, the trail itself isn’t overly crowded, so you can enjoy your serenity in the forest. If you want to observe the local wildlife, this is also an ideal, quiet environment to do so. The first viewpoint presents itself about 2.7km into the trail, and from here you would be able to see the quiet Tubkaak beach (less crowded than Ao Nang and Railay but with just as many fun activities) and its limestone structures. Moving further on, the trail splits into two and directs you either to another viewpoint or to the waterfall. The signs are plentiful and there is a map at the start of the trail to guide your journey. The rock protrusions make for a great location to get a view of the entire valley and also poses as a great photo spot, but caution is advised when exploring this area. The tranquil environment, coupled with the beautiful views of the valley and the ocean, certainly makes the Tab Kak Hang Nak Hill Nature Trail one of, if not, the best hiking trail in Krabi.

Tips Before You Go
It is advisable to go early in the morning as it gets very hot in the afternoon, despite the canopy of trees. As there are no shops along the trail, it is important to bring along sufficient water or purchase it at the foot of the hills. Hiking shoes are recommended and the trail is best to climb on a dry day, as rain can make it slippery and difficult to climb.
