Within Jasper National Park, Alberta, you will find the enchanting Sunwapta Falls. Water gushes out from the Sunwapta River to the falls, which makes perfect sense because the word “Sunwapta” loosely translates to mean “turbulent waters”. Sunwapta Falls is divided into the upper and lower falls, the upper falls passing through a canyon before becoming the threesome of the lower falls. In late spring, the falls are even more spectacular as spring melt is at its peak.

You can appreciate the might of the water crashing relentlessly against the limestone rocks from the footbridge. Interestingly, the falls were formed because the Sunwapta River changed its course, creating a gorge from limestone rocks.
