Sulphur Mountain

Where science and nature collide.

“Beauty and brains”. Oddly enough, that is an apt description of Sulphur Mountain, in Banff, Canada. Named because of the two sulphurous hot springs on the lower slopes of the mountain, Sulphur Mountain gives you amazing panoramic views of the region, including the likes of Bow Valley, from its jagged mountain ridges.

Not only is it a breathtaking snowcapped mountain, but it was also the site of a meteorological research building in the early 1900s, and home to the Sulphur Mountain Cosmic Ray Station in the 1950s. The two hot spring pools on the mountain are great to warm yourself up, giving visitors a lovely place to bask in the beauty of the area for decades. The second hot spring, however, is no longer open for public bathing. Hike up the mountain, at a peak elevation of 2451m, and enjoy all that Sulphur Mountain has to offer.
