If you want to see the arts come alive for an evening, head down to the Straz Center for the Performing Arts. Even if you aren’t a hardcore culture lover, it’s still a glittering attraction worthy of a visit. The performing complex itself consists of five distinct theaters, a rehearsal hall, on-site restaurants, banquet facilities, and a plethora of retail shops. It’s practically Hollywood, but for live plays. The center was renamed after David A. Straz, Jr., in recognition of his immense financial donation. It was the largest individual philanthropic gift ever made to a cultural institution in Tampa Bay. Today, you can see the legacy of his donation well and alive in the state-of-the-art acoustics, the elegant facilities and the sheer profusion of eclectic performances to be witnessed here. From rock concerts to Broadway musicals, the Straz Center has provided an evening of entertainment for many a wide-eyed visitor. At night, the building is all lit up, a dazzling nod to the magic that’s going on within. A visit here will definitely leave you awestruck!
