Stigfossen Waterfall

A towering waterfall that tumbles off a cliff into a valley.

While it is undoubtedly the more famous waterfall out of the pair that plunge into the valley at Trollstigen, Stigfossen Waterfall is surprisingly shorter than its counterpart. However, Stigfossen Waterfall’s impressive height of 240 metres cannot be discounted. While you can see this majestic fall throughout the winding Trollstigen road and its various viewpoints, Stigfossen Waterfall is best viewed from the bridge Stigfossbrua. Situated directly in front of the upper half of the gushing cascade, you are afforded with a full frontal view of the gently sloping fall that looks more like a waterslide than a vertical drop. As you admire the awe-inspiring sight, you will also be treated to a refreshing spray of mist from the cascade of water. The waterfall continues downstream beneath Stigfossbrua, into a stream that churns over a rock bed snaking through the valley. This is where you can stop by to take a few gorgeous shots of the waterfall in its full length. Trust me when I say that the awe of seeing Stigfossen Waterfall in person cannot be described through mere words.
