Perth, Australia
State War Memorial

A sobering war memorial remembering those who gave their lives for the greater good.

The 18-meter tall obelisk stands in Kings Park as Perth's State War Memorial, a somber remembrance of the fallen Western Australian soldiers who have taken part in any and all conflicts that Australia has been involved in. The War Memorial looks out on Perth, with incredible views of the Swan and Canning Rivers, as well as the Darling Ranges.

The walls surrounding this obelisk are marred with marble tablets engraved with the list of 7000 fallen soldiers from World War I. The colors of the Infantry Battalions and Light Horse Regiment are enclosed in glass cases. Bronze plaques list the names of the 4000 fallen Western Australian soldiers from World War II. Within the crypt, a marble tablet bears the names of those who lost their lives in Korea, Malaya, Borneo, and Vietnam. This monument is a must-visit, to pay tribute to those who gave their lives for the greater good.
