The only Anglican church in Denmark.
St. Alban’s Church, or simply the English Church, is the only Anglican Church in Denmark. Designed as a traditional English church, the church was built in the gothic revival style in 1887, because of the increasing numbers of the English parish. It is located in a park at the end of Amaliegade, next to the Kastellet citadel. Often regarded as Copenhagen’s most elegant church, it sits in an extremely picturesque location, overlooking the moat at Kastellet.
The church’s tower also contains 15 tubular bells, as it was not strong enough to hold regular bells. Inside, many of the church’s inventory and fittings are a result of donations to the church, including the tiles to the organ. A great example of Victorian church architecture, the St Alban’s Church is worth a visit when in Copenhagen.
