With its fascinating geological formations, vegetation and wildlife, Split Rock ROCKS!

Located within Joshua Tree National Park, see the magical rock formations of Split Rock at the Mojave Desert in California. With a moderately easy trail of 1.9 miles, it is perfect for kids to explore the nooks and crannies of the granite boulders. A great introduction to the interesting myriad of desert flora, look out for the Ocotillo and Cholla cacti, Yucca plants, creosote bush and Joshua trees. Come in spring to admire the wildflowers in full bloom or look out for some desert wildlife, such as Chuckwalla lizards in the sands and rocks. Soak in the beauty of the desert and catch the stunning sunset as it cast its golden rays over the immense landscape. If you are lucky, you might even spot a great horned owl swooping by in search for breakfast at dusk!
