Once a police horse stable, now a 17-acre urban park on South Beach.
A backdrop for both TV shows and many amateur photoshoots, South Pointe Park has been part of South Beach since 1984, after it was donated to the city of Miami Beach in 1979. With an amphitheatre, observation towers, picnic pavilions and a workout area, it was unveiled and has been a spot for many-a festival since then. There’s even a well-loved steakhouse, Smith and Wollensky in the area. There is also a dog park and a water park in the area, making it an experience for the whole family.
Offering almost 360-degree spectacular views of the Biscayne Bay, Fisher Island and the Atlantic Ocean, the park is connected by the Miami Beach Boardwalk, which goes through the last remaining natural sand dune in the city, and was created with great consideration for the ecology and natural environment.
One of the favourite activities of tourists and locals alike is watching the giant cruise ships go out of the harbour and pass by South Pointe. After a good workout, sometimes you just have to go to the beach kiosk and grab a drink and sit by, watching the ships sail by.
