Souk Haddadine

Come to Souk Haddadine to see Morocco’s master craftsmen at work.

If you head towards the sound of metal clanging against metal, you’ll soon find yourself in Souk Haddadine, the blacksmiths’ souk. This souk truly celebrates Moroccan craftsmanship, as you can see the blacksmiths hard at work hammering out wrought iron lamps, chairs and plates, each beautifully adorned with ornate, winding patterns.

Brave the gusts of heat flaring out from the furnaces to watch the craftsmen hard at work, bent double over sheets of iron. Be amazed at their tremendous skill in handling the metal, as the unwieldy material slowly morphs into an elegant, onion-shaped lamp or an artisanal plate. There may not be many tourist shops or souvenirs, but you’ll definitely fall in love with the mesmerising show of transforming metal into art of an assortment of colours and shapes.

Open daily from 6 am to 5 pm except during the holidays, Souk Haddadine is the place to be if you are fascinated by ironware, pottery and more, especially in Moroccan style!
